4 BHK Painting Tricks to Make Every Bedroom Stand Out

For far too long, the ability of walls to change the look and feel of a home has been greatly underestimated! Believe it or not, even just one wall that is artfully done up can multiply the aesthetic appeal by a hundredfold.

Nope, we are not talking just about decor pieces or wallpapers. There’s a lot more to painting the bedrooms in your 4 BHK home than that. The secret lies in the choice of wall paint. There are a lot of ways in which wall paint can be used to make a house look brighter and attractive.

So keep reading to find out some creative ways of making every bedroom stand out.

4 BHK Painting Tricks: Before Getting Started

A few things to keep in mind before we unleash our creativity. These are:

1. Choosing The Right Paint

No, not the colour. We’ll come to that later. There are two major types of paint: water-based and oil-based. Water-based paint lasts longer, but oil-based paint offers a shiny, lustrous look. Acrylic paint, water-resistant paint, distemper, lustre-paint are other types of paint frequently used for interior painting.

You don’t need to know all the technical aspects to make the right choice. However, when it comes to bedroom walls, looks matter a lot. And that, in turn, depends on the type of paint used. For instance, the master bedroom in your 4 BHK home can have a matt lilac, but the kids’ bedroom can use a lustrous lilac to make the walls more vibrant. The same colour in different types of paint will give us different looks. So how would you decide which paint suits which bedroom more? This brings us to…

2. Choosing The Right Colour

Light colours are not to be taken “lightly” when it comes to interior decor. These are most preferred for any room because they make any space look bigger. It is also very soothing to the eye. Light pastels, such as green, purple or even a golden yellow, can give the entire room a cheerful vibe.

Another great thing about choosing a lighter shade is that it can easily be paired with a darker tone to create a beautiful contrast, making them excellent background colours. They make wall decorations like photographs and paintings stand out better. There are no limits to the number of combinations you can try with light colours.

Master Bedroom: Make the Wall your Canvas

In a bedroom, the wall against which the bed is propped up receives the most eyeballs. Of course, photo frames, paintings, and decorative lights are good options, but why not hit the ball out of the park with an artistic wall?

Let the entire wall be your canvas! Murals are a fun way to do this.

Choose an image, a photograph or a scene that is very special to you. Instead of a regular framed photograph, you can get the entire picture painted on the wall. It will be an eye-grabber when guests come over. Imagine waking up every morning and seeing the most beautiful memories painted right on the wall. That will surely give your bedroom a whole different look.

The Kid’s Room:  Colour Wash Technique

This is one of our favourite tricks. It’s simple, quirky, and sophisticated at the same time. Colour Wash involves having one or two colours in combination (such as lilac and peach) spread over a wall in a brushwork style. The hues alternate with the shades, and the brushstrokes are clearly visible. The more random the brush strokes, the better the finish. You can even add a bit of glaze to attain a glossy finish. We advise choosing a warm shade like a bright golden-yellow or a peppy-orange to achieve a warm, vibrant look. Kids will absolutely love this because of its sunny vibe.

Second Bedroom: Jazz up the Corners with Geometric Patterns

Make those dull, unused corners in your extra bedroom an exciting one. If you have chosen a colour combination for your bedroom wall, a geometric pattern painted in the corners is sure to go well with the overall decor. The corners offer an interesting two-dimension. Geometric patterns fit well in these nooks and are pretty capable of turning heads. If you like the overall design, you can even extend it downwards. Pillars are the perfect places for patterns like these.

Add a couple of tiny lights and some wall hangings for the extra ‘wow’ effect. You‘ll be surprised how often you’d want to hang around these corners.

The Third Bedroom: Let Your Creativity Soar High with a Patterned Ceiling

A false ceiling is so 2010 now. So are the ceiling stickers. The ceiling usually remains the most ignored part of the interior decoration, often coated in plain white paint. However, it offers vast stretches of space uninterrupted by windows or doors. So why not use it to create something outstanding?

We recommend using light hues for the ceiling in a matte finish so that light is dispersed throughout the house. A patterned ceiling could be similar to the colour wash technique with lesser brushstrokes and more alternating bands of hues and shades. It could also feature abstract designs like a spiral, a square pattern or hexagons. Make your guests look up! (kinda literally)
