3BHK Flat in Kalpataru Crest - A Walk Down the Dream Space

Blue is a mystic colour that has often enchanted artists and writers alike and is quite a popular colour when it comes to interior design. Blue, the colour of the sea, embraces softness and is quite inviting and no wonder it is everybody’s favourite colour.

So when the owners of Kalpataru Crest apartment wanted us to design their 3BHK Mumbai home with a good dose of blue coupled with some rustic touch, we immediately jumped into carving out their dream into reality with their go-to shade.

Here is a glimpse of the lovely blue home designed using various hues of blue and rustic elements.

The Foyer

True to the saying, “First impressions are the best impressions,” the entryway speaks volumes about your house. There is nothing more pleasing than a warm entrance that reflects a calm and simplistic vibe.

A simple and chic entryway sets the tone for your home. So, we have purposely kept the foyer stylish yet straightforward.

We accentuated the minimalist look with some interesting paintings and photographs, paired with two simple chairs in a light grey tone. The simplistic entryway gives an ideal and warm welcome for visitors.

The Living Room

We opted for a large open plan for the living room with hues ranging from deep royal blue to powder blue.

The accent wall has been painted in deep royal blue that is bold enough to give the room a royal look.

The mustard-yellow sofa in the above picture accentuates the accent wall; true to the maxim, opposites attract. To add a rustic touch to the room, we opted for a light brown minimalist centre table.

The suspended low wall TV cabinet in a soft neutral blue shade complements the rustic brown feature wall. The rustic wood tone feature wall (with a drape of blue at one corner) gives a nice contrast to the lively yellow sofa placed opposite the TV. We chose earthy hues for the curtains to add a rustic touch to the windows.

With minimalistic design being the highlight, we avoided crowding the wall spaces with too many artefacts. Instead, a single huge drapery in earthen hues is hung on the wall beside the yellow sofa. Simple and sophisticated!

The Master Bedroom

Now taking the 3BHK home’s tour further, we enter its first bedroom - the master bedroom. Here, the theme has been set to align with the Sand and the Sea.

The rust-brown accent wall acts as a natural backdrop to the spring blue upholstery. The headboard and the side table have been designed with minimalistic features. The room exudes a fresh and vibrant vibe with floral curtains that give an exciting country look to the small space.

Bedroom 2 and 3

In this 3BHK home in Mumbai, the second bedroom has myriad shades of blue, with the upholstery being done in large light blue and grey shades and topped up with a small maroon throw.

The smaller room shown below has more neutral shades of white coupled with some interesting frames.

To freshen up the small room, we have painted cabinets in sky blue and not to mention the new rustic small ladder that doubles as an interesting bookshelf (see picture below).

The Kitchen

Cooking should never have to feel like a drab. With the right interiors, you get to explore the art that cooking is.

To make the kitchen more lively in this Kalpataru Crest flat, we have incorporated patterns on the walls behind the countertop. The dusky brown mosaic design countertop and floor complement the blue cabinets.

Do not fail to notice the hidden cabinet pulls that allow more room for movement and do not come in the way when you walk around.

The Bathroom

Using a splash of bright colour can be intimidating, but this can bring in a more adventurous feel, especially in smaller places like bathrooms and powder rooms. So here, we have incorporated patterned tiles in earthen tones behind the brown washbasin countertop. The large mirror gives more space, while the walls have been covered with light brown tiles to bring in a rustic colour. Few succulents have been added to bring mother nature inside.

To sum up, we had fun designing this apartment and were totally satisfied with the outcome.
