5 Things We Always (Secretly) Remove From a Client’s Pinterest Board

JULY 11, 2025

Pinterest is the dream. But also… the problem. Clients come to us with boards bursting with images, which is amazing! But some of those pins? They’re either impractical, outdated, or just don’t work in the real world (especially not in Mumbai homes). So here it is, a peek behind the curtain: the five things we almost always remove (quietly) before we start designing.

1. All-White Everything

We get it, white walls, white sofas, white rugs… it's clean, minimal, "aesthetic." But in a city like Mumbai with dust, humidity, and active families, an all-white palette is a full-time job. We replace this with warm neutrals, textured whites, or layered tones that look fresh but live better.

2. That Oversized Barn Door

We love a rustic moment too, but your Santacruz apartment isn’t a Napa vineyard. Barn doors often eat into valuable wall space and don’t fit the scale of Mumbai homes. Instead, we opt for sleek sliding panels or textured folding doors that suit the vibe (and the square footage).

3. Floor Lamps in High-Traffic Areas

Those tall, tripod-style lamps? Beautiful. But they’re a tripping hazard in tight Mumbai flats. We trade them for wall-mounted lighting, ceiling accents, or built-in LED panels that give you the glow without taking up real estate.

4. Massive Four-Poster Beds

They scream drama and luxury,  but not in a 10x12 bedroom. We steer clients toward low-slung, upholstered beds that visually expand the space, or custom beds with integrated storage that are just as luxe (and way smarter).

5. “Inspo” From Giant Villas Abroad

This one’s tricky. A Mediterranean villa or a 5,000 sq ft LA mansion makes for great eye candy, but it’s rarely a fit for a 2 or 3BHK in Mumbai. We dig deep into the why behind the inspo and recreate the feeling , without trying to copy a space with 4X the square footage.

Pinterest is a brilliant starting point, not a blueprint. Our job is to decode what you actually love about a pin and bring it to life in a way that works for your lifestyle, your space, and this mad, beautiful city we call home.
